Haydock Park Races

People have probably been racing with horses whether on their backs or following in a chariot as far back as 700 BC. Today it is known as the ‘Sport of Kings’ and a class one is the most prestigious race in the calendar, Wynne Aviation today was part of Gustav Klimpt’s journey in this arena.

Haydock Racecourse in the Liverpool city region is set in an area of parkland to the east of Newton Le Willows, Horse racing has been run in Newton for many years, the great race mare ‘Queen of Trumps’ won at Newton in 1836, Haydock track is mostly flat and left handed of around one mile & five furlongs, the straight allows sprints of up to six furlongs, perfect for Gustav Klimpt.

Haydock was awarded racecourse of the year in 1998, 2000 & 2016.
